A deadly house fire in Woonsocket is under investigation. Crews responding to the home on Sunset Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Sunday found smoke pouring from the windows. Woonsocket Fire Chief Robert Cahill told 12 News a man in his 50s died. Most of the flames were blowing out the front of the house toward the street, so no other homes were affected, according to the chief. “There was a lot of heat, a lot of smoke buildup. Most of the houses are well insulated, so it doesn’t let the heat and the smoke escape, especially this time of year when everybody has their windows closed, because it’s a little bit cooler at night,” Cahill said. Lincoln and other surrounding companies were called in to assist just in case, Cahill said, and the fire was knocked down within 10 minutes.
