Off-duty first responders help save residents in Warren house fire

A fire broke out around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon on South Cutler Street in Warren. Warren firefighters told ABC6 that an off-duty East Providence police officer and firefighters who lived nearby sprung into action to save the residents who lived inside. Officials said it was a kitchen fire, located in the basement of the home, which trapped the residents inside. Everyone got out safely, according to officials. Firefighters said they were able to contain the kitchen fire with the sink faucet. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
