First responders in Coventry held a fundraiser Saturday for two firefighters who were injured by a hit-and-run driver. It happened on Victory Highway in May, as emergency crews were responding to a call. Miranda Hennessy, a single mom to three kids who works in Coventry as a firefighter and as a paramedic in Fall River, suffered major injuries and had to undergo surgery. At last check, police were still searching for the hit-and-run driver. Saturday, at the fundraiser, Hennesey said she “always had a feeling Western Coventry was a strong family” adding that the response to the fundraiser proved that true. Firefighter William Macari told NBC 10, “We all have to be prepared for the unknown, but this (the hit-and-run driver injuring firefighters) was an unknown we didn’t prepare for.”
