VIDEO/PHOTOS: Several people are still recovering after they were hurt in an apartment house fire in Woonsocket Monday evening. But their hearts are likely still broken after losing many pets that didn't survive. The deputy state fire marshal said 13 pets died from the fire, including 10 ferrets, two cats, and one dog. There were three families displaced. Woonsocket Fire Chief Bob Cahill said that putting out the accidental, five-alarm fire on Logee Street was not easy. “We’re very lucky that no one was injured more terrible than what they were," he said. The state fire marshal’s office said a smoker on the third-floor porch area put a cigarette into a tall, thin receptacle, but it was overfilled, causing the fire. The chief said plenty of clutter on the third floor provided challenges.
