VIDEO: Four Pawtucket residents were forced from their home by flames Monday morning.
Pawtucket Fire Chief John Trenteseaux told 12 News firefighters rushed to the Cottage Street home just after 3:30 a.m. in response to a call from a neighbor who spotted a fire in the driveway that had spread to the building.
“It got into the walls and traveled up the walls to the attic,” he explained. “[The firefighters] had trouble getting to it when it got to the attic but they eventually knocked it all down.”
Trenteseaux said one firefighter hurt his back trying to enter the home.
“He’s fine now, he’s out of the hospital,” he said.
The four residents, three adults and a child, escaped safely and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The home is not a total loss, with Trenteseaux noting that the third floor sustained the most damage.
