Crews knock down Johnston house fire

Firefighters in Johnston responded to a house fire that broke out on Sunday afternoon. According to Johnston police, crews were called to a home on Atwood Avenue around 4:30 p.m. for a house fire. Part of the road on Simmonsville Avenue up until Alcar/Rotary Drive was blocked off. Video by a 12 News crew on the scene showed fire officials focusing on the area of the home’s garage and going in and out of there. Rhode Island Energy was also on the scene. Police said that one person was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. It’s currently unclear what caused the fire.
