Three firefighters were injured while battling a fire in the grueling heat in Spring Township. The fire broke out around 8:45 a.m. Sunday on Indiandale Road at an unoccupied summer camp undergoing renovation. Fire officials say the new owners are slowly renovating the camp and were cleaning out a building at the time it caught fire. Investigators say it appears the fire started outside the structure. Fire crews from neighboring Lancaster County were called in to help fight the 2-alarm fire and were able to draw water from a nearby pond to battle the flames. Officials say three firefighters were taken to the hospital. Two had heat emergencies and another injured a foot. The Spring Twp. Fire Marshal believes everyone is out of the hospital and home recuperating. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
