Full suppression efforts continue on fires in forests across the state

Oregon Department of Forestry said there are approximately 6,774 personnel assigned to 38 large fires across Oregon, which doesn't include local and agency government employees, landowners, forestland operators and members of the community who are contributing to the suppression efforts every day. The seven fires in the Homestead Complex in the Umpqua National Forest near Glide are a combined 1,044 acres based on aerial infrared mapping. There is about 235 personnel assigned including hand crews, engines, water tenders, dozers, feller bunchers and skidgeons. Horse Heaven Creek Fire is 288 acres and the most active fire in the complex. Hand crews, engines and heavy equipment are building containment lines. No Man Fire is 317 acres and crews and heavy operators are using roads to construct containment lines around the fire.
