Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson announced on Tuesday, February 20, a new four-point plan to address delayed ambulance response times. The chair says the county’s ambulance provider, American Medical Response, has failed to meet the ambulance response times required in its contract.
“AMR, Multnomah County’s ambulance services contractor, likes to make these problems seem simple or the solutions sound easy. They aren’t, and they all have costs," Vega Pederson said on Monday about the new plan. “AMR continues to propose changing the way we do business instead of taking the necessary steps to improve their service. Asking Multnomah County residents to accept a lower level of medical care than any of our neighboring counties.”
