Sherwood Police say two police officers have been taken to a local hospital for precaution due to smoke inhalation after they entered a burning house Monday afternoon. Fire crews from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 22700 block of Highway 99 at 1:55 p.m. Firefighters arriving on scene reported heavy flames coming from a bedroom window, according to a post on X. Sherwood Police say their officers were the first to arrive and went into the house looking for occupants after being told people were still inside the residence. Once inside, the officers didn't find anyone and couldn't access the 2nd floor due to the flames. The fire was brought under control around 3 p.m. A fire investigator is working to determine the cause.
