Tulsa Fire Department responded to Interstate 44, west of the 193rd East Avenue off-ramp, for debris on the highway on Wednesday. Firefighters arrived on scene around 3:30p.m. and found debris had fallen from a vehicle, puncturing the fuel tank on a diesel truck. Oklahoma Highway Patrol and TFD's HazMat also responded to the scene to reduce the amount of fuel leaking into the storm drain. TFD says the driver of the truck believes approximately 110 gallons of fuel leaked from the tank. TFD encouraged drivers to remain cautious and to slow down as they traveled that stretch of road. TFD reported Wednesday night the gas meter was capped as of that night, and the situation was de-escalating.
