VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Milford Community Fire Department is hoping to speed up response times for some residents through a key lock box system.
Milford Fire Chief Mark Baird says there are 300 of those lock boxes outside of commercial buildings throughout the city. The boxes have keys to the businesses, so if they are closed and locked, first responders can still get into those businesses quickly if there's an emergency, without having to break windows or a door. Now, Chief Baird wants to get these installed in residential buildings, too. He said just in the last year they have found affordable key lock boxes for less than $50.00, making it more affordable for those who want one outside their home. He said they are working on a loan option, so residents do not have to pay a thing.
