A vacant residence on the 2000 block of Lockport-Olcott Road was destroyed by fire Sunday evening. The Niagara County Sheriff's dispatch center received several calls regarding a structure fire at 2022 Lockport-Olcott Road about 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Crews from Olcott and Miller Hose Volunteer Fire companies responded to the scene and subsequently extinguished the blaze, according to the sheriff's office. Sheriff Michael Filicetti told the Union-Sun & Journal that the home had been abandoned "for quite some time" and that its owner was subsequently located. It is believed that nobody was in the house at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The house is considered to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the county Origin and Cause Team.
