Multiple fire departments teamed up to knock down a fire in an auto recycling yard in Mound House on Friday afternoon. At least half a dozen vehicles appeared burned at B&R Auto Wrecking off Newman Lane, though facility manager Reed King told The Appeal the charred vehicles were mostly scrap. Emergency crews responded to the blaze around 2:10 p.m., including firefighters from Lyon and Storey counties and Carson City, as well as Nevada Highway Patrol troopers. According to Central Lyon County Fire Chief Rich Harvey, the fire was controlled within 20 minutes. He said the cause of the fire was under investigation. No injuries were reported. Harvey couldn’t confirm or deny the fire started east of the property on BLM land. He said fires leave footprints, and investigators would interview witnesses and gather evidence.
