A Lithium-Ion battery from an electric bicycle caused a fire at an apartment building in Bridgewater on Tuesday morning, police said. On March 26 at around 7:39 a.m., the Bridgewater Police Department along with the Finderne, Somerville, Manville, East Franklin, and Hillsborough fire departments and Robert Wood Johnson Rescue Squad / Paramedics, went to Schindler Terrace for a report of an active structure fire. Officers were able to evacuate the residents and a cat from inside, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Frederick J. Brittain III. RWJ Rescue Squad treated two people from the building on the scene and took them to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital (Somerset) for evaluation. East Main Street was closed between Finderne Avenue and Adamsville Road for responding emergency personnel.
