A federal agency has joined the investigation into the stubborn Hoboken fire last month that claimed two lives. Members of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms’ Explosives and Firearms division were at 38 Jackson St. Tuesday, along with Hoboken, Hudson County and state fire investigators. Two people died in the Dec. 21 fire that consumed a portion of the massive converted factory that takes up most of a city block. The building is home to a number of businesses that have not been allowed to return. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the ATF’s assistance in the investigation, but it the HCPO declined to provide any new information on the cause of the fire and the status of the investigation. The fire started on Dec. 21, and firefighters spent parts of the next two days at the scene after hot spots rekindled.
