Five firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling a two-alarm fire Friday night in Manchester.
The Manchester Fire Department said responding crews arrived at 317 Pearl Street around 8:40 p.m.
Three firefighters suffered minor burn injures and two firefighters had minor injuries performing ladder operations, the fire department said.
The owner of the home, Michelle Gaffney, told News 9 that her 23-year-old son was the only person home Friday night. She said he heard the fire alarm, and he was able to get out.
"[It was] very scary, very scary. I mean, here we are not home and the house is on fire," said Gaffney.
10 members of the Gaffney family live on both sides of the duplex. The fire department said the fire seems to have started in the attic and more of the fire damage is in that area.
