Firefighters across the state are dealing with a spike in chimney fires. And while such fires are not uncommon this time of year, they can be prevented.
The latest fire was Sunday morning on Foster Road in Merrimack. There wasn't too much damage to the home as Assistant Fire Chief Matt Duke said crews worked fast to keep the fire contained. “We definitely see an uptick in chimney fires this time of year. As a matter of fact, in the state, we had several this past weekend,” said State Fire Marshal Paul Parisi.
