Everyone made it out of a house fire early Wednesday morning in St. Paul. The St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department said firefighters and EMTs responded to the fire at 6th and Farnum St. The department said everyone made it out because of working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors inside the home. The house was saved because the residents had closed bedroom doors which prevented the fire from spreading to the rest of the house. This is the St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department’s 11th structure fire that crews have responded to this year. Firefighters rescued multiple hamsters and two pet birds. The Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office was on scene and determined the cause of the fire accidental in nature. Elba, Farwell, Boelus, St. Libory and Dannebrog firefighters all assisted.
