A Cary man suffered minor injuries following a fire at his home Wednesday evening. According to town officials, the Cary Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Picardy Village Place at 7:56 p.m. The fire was contained in the kitchen area of the residence. Officials say heavy smoke was visible when fire personnel arrived. The homeowner was alone during the fire and treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation. He was cleared and released without being transported to the hospital. The homeowner was displaced by the fire, according to town officials. No surrounding homes or structures were damaged. The fire is under investigation. As of Wednesday evening, the cause of the fire is unknown.
