VIDEO/PHOTOS: Nearly a thousand pigs were lost in a huge fire in one Eastern Carolina county.
Crews from three counties battled the fire at a pig farm on Highway 903 in Shine for several hours.
Firefighters say only 200 of the 1100 to 1200 pigs at the farm were saved. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire and the cause remains under investigation.
In addition to the Shine Fire Department, firefighters from Arba, Jason, Snow Hill, New Hope, North Lenoir, and La Grange were called to help with efforts.
Records show the farm is owned by Linwood Hall of Snow Hill.
