As the anniversary of September 11th approaches, some organizations have held their remembrances over the weekend. The North Carolina Red Knights Chapter Six held their annual 343 Memorial Ride to pay tribute to the heroes of 9/11. The Red Knights, a motorcycle organization comprised largely of firefighters, mark this day with profound significance. During the event, participants and members gathered for a moment of silence to honor and remember those who lost their lives that fateful day. The number 343 symbolizes the firefighters whose lives were valiantly lost. This day also brings awareness to the ongoing struggles of firefighters dealing with illnesses from working in the rubble. Proceeds from the ride will benefit a Pender County EMS responder who was seriously injured in a line-of-duty traffic crash.
