4 hurt, multiple rescues made after Charlotte apartment complex catches fire

VIDEO: Four people were hurt and eight people were rescued after an apartment complex in southeast Charlotte caught fire early Wednesday morning. The blaze broke out around 3 a.m. at the Rise Blue Ridge apartments on Wallace Road, just off Independence Boulevard. When firefighters arrived, flames were showing from the second and third floors of the complex. After about a half hour of fighting the fire, a second alarm was struck, calling for additional help. Charlotte Fire said the blaze was brought under control in about 50 minutes. Sixty firefighters responded. Medic confirmed that four people were hurt. Two of the people had serious injuries, while the other two had injuries that were not life-threatening. No firefighters were injured. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
