An Eastern Carolina fire department says money and two truckloads of supplies are heading to Western North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation. The Morehead City Fire-EMS Department says today, 30 pallets of supplies are traveling to Asheville in an 18-wheeler and a 28-foot box truck. Along with the supplies, officials say $4,000 donated by the Crystal Coast Boots and Badges has been used to buy equipment needed for the Swannonoa Fire Department. The fire department says the donations will be passed out by the Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry. Any remaining money will be used for long-term recovery efforts, according to officials.
