VIDEO: Destroyed homes, towns, and mass evacuations. Morehead City Fire Battalion Chief Brandon Doshier described the scene in Buncombe County as complete devastation. Chief Doshier and others with the Crystal Coast Water Rescue team got back Tuesday after heading west to Black Mountain last Thursday to aid in Helene rescue efforts. Chief Doshier says it’s nothing like the hurricanes he and others have seen in the East. “We learn pretty quickly that hurricanes in the mountains definitely has a new perspective of what I’ve seen,” says Chief Doshier. The deployment involved seven members from Morehead City Fire-EMS, two members from Newport, and three members from the Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS. This was the team’s first deployment where they had to evacuate large numbers of people in multiple evacuations throughout Buncombe County.
