VIDEO: Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck has confirmed that a small plane has crashed in Beaufort.
Sheriff Buck says it's in the area of 101 and Merrell Farm Road, and that authorities are on scene. There is no word right now on how many people were on board, and if anyone was hurt.
Emergency crews from Carteret County Emergency Services, Carteret County Sheriff's Office, Beaufort Police Department, Beaufort Fire Department, Harkers Island Fire Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol are all on scene. We're told by Carteret County officials that the NCSHP is lead agency investigating the crash.
