Firefighters responded to a home on fire on Howard Road in Newport Wednesday morning at around 5:30 a.m. The home was unoccupied and under construction at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials with the Newport Fire Department said one bystander was treated for smoke inhalation and refused transportation to the hospital.
