88-year-old man killed in Duplin County fire

VIDEO: An 88-year-old man was killed in a Rose Hill fire Sunday night, April 28, according to the Duplin County Department of Emergency Management. Per a county representative, crews responded to the 300 block of Clinic Circle Drive just before 11:55 p.m. “Greenevers Fire Department was dispatched to investigate and found a working structure fire with possible life endangerment. Additional departments were then dispatched including Teachey Fire Department, Rose Hill Fire Department, Wallace Fire Department, Northeast Fire Department, Duplin County EMS, Duplin County Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office,” the county release states. During a search of the residence, Morrell Chasten was found. Lifesaving efforts were attempted on the scene, but the 88-year-old succumbed to his injuries.
