PHOTO: Kansas City fire crews stayed busy in the early morning hours Tuesday, July 23.
The first fire calls rang in at 12:45 a.m. near 40th and North Bennington. On arrival, crews reported heavy fire from a three-story apartment building.
The size of the fire led to a second alarm call, meaning more help arrived. Crews were able to bring the fire under control after approximately 30 minutes.
Five units were called and the Red Cross is helping four adults affected.
No residents were hurt, but one firefighter was transported to North Kansas City Hospital for heat-related issues. The cause is under investigation.
At 1:10 a.m., KCFD responded to a second fire at a house in the 62nd block of East 109th Terrace.
When they arrived, crews reported heavy flames from a two-story home.
The people inside were able to evacuate safely.
