Emergency crews rescued a woman who injured herself jumping from the River Road Bridge above the James River near Lake Springfield. First responders received the call around 4 p.m. Monday and arrived on the scene around 4:15p.m. They say the woman hurt her back when she landed in the water. She could not swim back to shore because of her injuries. Rescuers transported her to a local hospital. Despite the “No Swimming” signs posted people still choose to abuse the warning resulting in accidents like these. KY3 reached out to the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District on tips on how to stay safe when swimming in rivers and learned why you should not jump from high points. “We will respond to several different incidents of people jumping off of bridges or even out of boats,” said Travis Trent with the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District.
