Mayor Dave Kleis has selected Matthew Love, the fire chief in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, to become the new chief of the St. Cloud Fire Department.
Love has served as a fire chief since 2009, and worked in the City of Colorado Springs Fire Department and other emergency service agencies before his current position.
Love will take over for Interim St. Cloud Fire Chief Bill Mund on Dec. 6. Mund, who was formerly the full-time fire chief in St. Cloud for 12 years, returned to the department as the interim fire chief in February, after Dean Wrobbel retired from the position in January.
The city worked with the Western Fire Chiefs Association to search for a new leader for the St. Cloud department according to the release.
