A bicycle accident left a 23-year-old Duluth man injured and unable to walk out of the Piedmont Biking Trail system on Friday afternoon. However, thanks to his cellphone, members of the Duluth Fire Department were able to locate him 17 minutes after his initial call for emergency services. That's why Duluth Fire Assistant Chief Brent Consie highly recommends anyone heading out onto the trails this spring to take a phone along. "Any time you're out biking, the first thing you should have is a helmet on," Consie said. "But the second biggest safety feature is your cellphone. We were within just feet of where his phone pinged on Friday and it helped us determine his location so much quicker."
