The Mio-based Tri Town Fire Department's ability to fight fires is enhanced thanks to Dearborn Heights Fire Department. The Tri Town Fire Department serves parts of three townships near Mio in Oscoda County. The truck is a 1994 Pierce pumper. It was recently decommissioned by the DHFD as it was no longer needed due to the replacement of newer vehicles. The truck had nearly no commercial value because of its age and attempts to sell it were unsuccessful. DHFD Chief Dave Brogan learned of the Northern Michigan Department’s need for another truck and got to work in donating it to them. Along with just one functioning pumper, the department also has two tenders (water tank vehicles), and two wildland engines – which are typically used for grass and wildfires.
