The South Portland Fire Department says three people were rescued from a boat that was disabled and adrift Sunday evening. Crews started searching for the boat in Hussey Sound around 5:15 p.m. Sunday and found it near Fort Gorges. South Portland's fire chief says initial calls were for a boat taking on water. While that turned out not to be true, the boat was incapacitated, and crews towed the 17-foot boat into shore. All three people onboard were safe.
