VIDEO: It wasn’t the usual day at school in Etna. “We had Fire Prevention Day here at Etna-Dixmont, Plymouth School. We always give a kid a ride to school this morning as part of our Fire Prevention Day, and then we’ll go in and talk with all the students, and they will check out all the trucks,” explained Plymouth’s Fire Chief, Tyler Dean. “Mika, my dog, was like crazy. I was scared that they were gonna leave us or thought it was the neighbors or something, and they actually turned around so they could go around the whole thing,” said Lydia, who rode to school in a fire truck. While riding in fire trucks and blasting sirens can be fun for kids, much of the day was educational. “Get them familiar with us coming in and what we’re gonna look like in gear if their house is ever on fire, not to be scared. Make sure they get out when the smoke alarms are going off, make sure they have a pre-plan at their house for if something does happen,” Dean stated.
