VIDEO: The Maine Potato Blossom Festival’s Mini Muster event was Friday evening. Kids got the chance to see the hard work and skills that it takes to be a firefighter and police officer. Children from around the county came out to participate in Fort Fairfield’s Mini Muster event. Kids ran through a timed course with several tasks set along the way to help simulate what being in the protective services industry is like. Kids had a blast running through the course trying to beat the fastest time. Brock Everett, Mini Muster participant in the 12- to 16-year-old bracket said, “First, we had to lug a firehose to the weight. I think there was like 50 lbs., and we had to haul it to a yellow line.” William Cummings, in the 7- to 12-year-old bracket said, “Then you had to hit a piece of wood in with a hammer.”
