The Ashland Fire Department hosted the Fireman’s Muster on Saturday. The rain didn’t stop other fire departments from joining in on the activities of this long-time tradition. The Firefighter’s Muster has been a long-time tradition for our firefighters in the county. Every year it is hosted in a different town. In 2023 however, the muster didn’t happen. This year the Ashland Fire Department brought the tradition back. Harvey McLellan is the Captain of the Ashland Fire Department. McLellan says, “Last year the muster skipped because nobody wanted to do it. This year we decided that we wanted to do it to bring it back. Bring tradition back.” During the Muster, different fire departments compete against each other. Even though the winning team received this trophy, the competitions were more about spending time together.
