New Sweden home deemed total loss after fire

A New Sweden home has been deemed a total loss after a fire Wednesday morning. At 4:18 am, the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department was dispatched to the structure fire on Stockholm Road. Upon arrival, the crews found the home well-involved in a fire that had been burning for some time prior to dispatch. Crews used approximately 25,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. According to the Caribou Fire Department, there were no injuries, as no one was home. The building is a total loss, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The Caribou Fire Department was assisted by the North Lakes Fire and Rescue, Stockholm Fire Department, Limestone Fire Department, and the Presque Isle Fire Department.
