VIDEO: Phil Dow, a retired Bangor firefighter, lost everything after fire swept through his Palermo home earlier this month. Dow took heroic action to get his family out safely. “His house, once they noticed they had a fire, he had his wife, his oldest daughter, and his two in-laws, one of which is bedridden and in hospice. He was able to physically remove his father-in-law by himself, drag him out of the house while the house is burning, you know, kind of went into action based on his training here and was able to get a seven-month-old infant out of the house,” said Jared Willey, President, Bangor Professional Firefighters Local 772, and Bangor Firefighter. When Bangor firefighters heard about this, they stepped up.
