VIDEO: Senator Susan Collins spoke Monday at the Fallen Firefighter Congressional Flag Presentation. The flag presentation is an annual event that honors firefighters who have died in the line of duty. Collins said, “From the Twin Towers to devastating wildfires and local emergencies, Americans have seen firefighters run toward danger while others flee, and our nation is united in gratitude.” 226 American flags that had flown over the U.S. Capitol were presented to the foundation to honor the 226 firefighters who gave their life. The flags will be presented to the families of the fallen firefighters at a memorial ceremony on May 5th.
