VIDEO: Heavy rain and high surf from Hurricane Lee could impact coastal Maine communities this weekend.
First responders and emergency management agencies are getting ready now.
The Wells Fire Department has staff on standby beginning Friday and may call in off-duty personnel.
“We want to be ready and prepared for if and when we get a lot of downed trees, a lot of power outages, inundation on the ocean, things like that,” said Wells Fire Chief Mark Dupuis.
On Tuesday, Dupuis said firefighters were notified of potential staffing changes.
In the days ahead, he said the department would make sure trucks are fueled and tools are charged in the event of an extended power outage.
Town officials also made the decision to remove items from Wells Beach that could become hazards.
