Maine State Police says a man was injured after vehicle carrying hunting dogs crashed on the turnpike in Ogunquit Wednesday morning. Police say around 9:30 a.m., a West Virginia man fell asleep while driving his pickup truck and side-swiped a tractor-trailer. The crash caused the pickup to roll over several times. The passenger in the pickup was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The two drivers were not injured in the crash. Police say the pickup truck was carrying 10 dogs in a steel cage. One of the dogs died at the scene. Eight dogs were recovered from the surrounding area, with one needing medical treatment. The Ogunquit Fire Department says one dog, "Whiskey," is still missing. The crash is still under investigation.
