VIDEO: An early morning fire causes damage to an apartment building in Lewiston. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Residents say they were thankful to get out safely and they were able to save their two cats.
Lewiston Assistant Fire Chief Mark Caron says they got a call around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday that a fire had broken out on the corner of Howe and Ash Street.
Crews arrived to find a heavy fire on the second floor, which took them about an hour to put out. The second floor and roof sustained a lot of the damage.
While no one was injured, Caron says all residents have been displaced and the Red Cross is helping them with housing.
A neighbor told CBS13 he was putting his kids on the bus when he smelled burning plastic, saw the smoke and flames, and then bolted into action.
