An Ocean Pines home was damaged in a fire Wednesday afternoon.
The Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Department responded to 13 Hickory Way shortly before 5 p.m. for a reported house fire. Firefighters requested assistance from Ocean City, Showell, Berlin, and Bishopville Fire Departments, and the blaze was quickly brought under control.
It was determined that the fire began in a second floor bedroom and was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. Smoke alarms were present at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
