A man is dead after a fire was reported in a senior apartment building in Laurel, Md. on Monday afternoon, according to Prince George's County Fire Department. Sharon Campbell, who lives on the ground floor, told 7News that her friend witnessed the unthinkable. "She literally saw this man in flames and informed me that he went into his house, came back out onto the balcony, still engulfed in flames, and then when he went in the second time, he never came back out." Fire officials said many units in the building were unsafe to be occupied after the fire. "They just said it's not safe for you to be here right now, we have water damage coming thru the light fixtures and everything, we need you out of here now," Campbell said. The apartment fire was reported around 4:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Main Street, officials said.
