The MVA Headquarters in Glen Burnie has been evacuated after a gas line was struck Thursday morning. Anne Arundel County fire crews, including hazmat units, responded around 10:30 a.m. to the MVA Glen Burnie headquarters in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway for a call of a gas line being struck by a contractor. Fire officials say a high-pressure gas line was struck outside of the building. Gas did leak into at least one of the buildings and the fire department is currently ventilating the buildings as well as the surrounding area. The building has been evacuated. BGE arrived at 11 a.m. was able to shut off the valve of the gas main within 25 minutes. However, a small leak is still present. BGE will need to dig up the line and fence it off. No one has been hurt.
