Boston firefighters were able to stop a fire from spreading throughout a church in the city's Jamaica Plain neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, according to officials.
The Boston Fire Department said that at about 3 p.m., crews responded to 207 Amory St., which is the address for the Boylston Congregational Church. The church on the corner of Amory and Boylston streets is in Jamaica Plain but is not far from the Roxbury line.
Officials said firefighters encountered heavy smoke from a fire that was burning in the church's basement, but they were able to quickly contain the flames and stop them from burning through parts of the church.
It is unclear if anyone was injured in connection with the fire.
