A second alarm was struck in Springfield on Thursday after a fire raced through a home, which left two people without a place to live. The fire broke out at a three-story house on Princeton Street around 9 a.m. We have learned that the Springfield Fire Department worked throughout the morning and early afternoon to put out the fire. Western Mass News spoke with the owner of the home who did not want to be interviewed, but he told us this house was in his family for years. Meanwhile, Springfield Fire Captain Drew Piemonte shared what firefighters had to deal with. “First arriving crews saw heavy fire coming from the second floor apartment and made an interior attack and they were forced out by the conditions,” Piemonte explained. No injuries were reported and the Red Cross is helping the two residents who were displaced.
