It was a busy day for Stow Fire Department on Friday as they received calls almost simultaneously of smoke, lightning strikes setting fires, and trees falling on homes during the storm.
At around 3:40 p.m., Stow Firefighters searched the area of 268 Great Road as the intense storm passed through after getting reports of smoke in the area. Firefighters discovered a burning shed that had been struck with lightning which caused it to set ablaze, Stow Fire Department said.
While first responders worked to battle the fire, they received calls that a large tree had struck a home at 150 Barton Road.
The tree had fallen onto the house and knocked over the chimney. Stow Fire had gotten reports that someone was missing at the Barton Road scene, but the person was later located unharmed.
