A major water main break early Saturday morning in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood flooded parts of the area, prompting first responders to deploy their high water rescue vehicle.
A 36 inch water main broke around 3:15 a.m. Saturday, sending water rushing down Heath Street and into nearby Minton, Waldon and Round Hill streets, causing some of the streets to buckle.
The Boston Fire Chief told WCVB's Brianna Borghi the break was one of the worst he's seen, affecting water service in the city in areas as far as Beacon Hill. The water was shut off before 10 a.m. Saturday, according to Boston fire officials.
The Boston Water Department said crews would be on site most of the day to make repairs to the water main. "Loss of pressure that was caused by this incident is expected to be restored," the agency said.
